I was very honoured and excited to be asked to photograph the nominees at their place of work for the Dorset Business Awards 2015. This meant co-ordinating visits to photograph 31 businesses all over Dorset with only 2 weeks to complete this epic task.
I love photographing people and especially environmental portraits, so with no specific brief, I told each business I visited that I wanted the photograph to say something about them, so that if anyone came upon the photograph without a caption, they would get an idea of who they were. Whether we had branding or product in the photograph, the main feature always had to be the people.
I have to say I had a fantastic time meeting the most wonderful people, covering over 500 miles and all worthy winners.

As well as the environmental portraits I was also asked to photography the awards event, which was held at the BIC in Bournemouth.
I photographed the VIP’s for the social diary pages of the Dorset Business magazine and most exciting of all, in a dressing room backstage, all the winners as they came off stage, with the category sponsors. I had to be swift and precise with the photography, so I decided to shoot tethered to my laptop and on a tripod for consistency. After the ceremony, all the photos had go over to the Bournemouth Echo, so no time for editing, just captioning, which would have taken so much longer, had I not had the lovely Lisa from Liz Lean PR to help me.
So without further ado, here are the winners!

“ Photographing 33 finalists across Dorset in two weeks was no mean feat and the winners photos were great. It’s been a pleasure working with such a professional photographer this year on the Dorset Business Awards”
